Anointing of Sick
Anointing of the sick can still occur during COVID-19 restrictions. If you are requesting an Anointing or Last Rites for a person suffering from COVID-19, please ensure you advise the office at the time of booking so we can ensure Father has access to personal protective equipment during the visit. Thank you for your understanding.
Father Sam can be contacted at anytime to arrange anointing of the sick or Last Rites. Please call the Parish Office on 9798 6016 and select ‘Option 3’ to speak to Father.
Funerals in St Thomas of Canterbury, Lewisham and St Patrick’s Summer Hill typically take place on a Friday.
Please note that due to COVID-19 restrictions, funerals in our Parish are limited to the Priest, representatives from the Funeral home, and two or three members of immediate family.
We encourage families to consider having a graveside prayer service or crematorium prayer service (both outdoors) as an alternative to a Church funeral during the current restrictions.
For those who Pass on to Eternal Peace during the COVID-19 restrictions and are not able to have a full Funeral Mass, we are able to arrange a Memorial Mass once COVID-19 restrictions are lifted.
Please contact the Funeral Home of your choice in the first instance, and they will make a booking with the church on your behalf.
Funerals can be held on other days by prior arrangement, however you may need to provide your own priest as Father Sam celebrates Mass at local nursing homes during the week and may not be available. Please contact the Parish office for further details.
